OUGD505 / Design Practice 2 / Production / Development

Initial production experiments:

Printing the cover page onto a 90gsm pink stock yielded a pleasing result however this stock would not be suitable for the cover as it is too thin.

In the staple binding of this draft the centre wasn't matched perfectly, creating a visually unpleasing result.

In the cutting of pages to align them after binding, the left margin was considerably leaving this poor result.

An experiment to include the publications title down the spine proved unsuccessful but is a
attribute I can use in a future project.

The alignment of the inside index became unaligned as each page was cut individual.

The natural opening of the book was quite extravagant due to the bind;
The publication on thick stock was too thick for a staple bind yet too thin to perfect bind,
the publication sits in a awkward page number / thickness.
Perfect binding could be an option to consider resulting in alternating the design to fit.
